Belleme Gel Eyeliner in 'Choco Brown' – Review & swatches

I am a gel eyeliner girl. Even though I have liquid and pencil eyeliners lying around in my stash but I find myself reaching out to gel eyeliners the most. What do I think about this one? Read more to find out.

Gel Eyeliner - Choco Brown
  • Rich chocolate-brown gel eyeliner creates beautifully bold eyes
  • Color pigments are packed into a clear gel base which glides on smoothly
  • Buttery texture of the gel formula makes application easy to control and comfortable
  • Once dried, liner is waterproof and smudge-resistant
  • Long-lasting and intense color

My thoughts
Choco Brown is a deep brown, in fact a very deep brown that appears quite intense on first swipe. I am digging browns eyeliners these days for a softer, more natural look. Choco Brown is neither too light nor dark in my case however it doesn't seem like a chocolate brown color to me.

The product feels creamy, glides effortlessly on my lids (without tugging or pulling across the lid) and dries pretty quick which makes it transfer-proof. It can be used on waterline too. The only problem I see is that since it dries and sets so fast, the second stroke doesn’t apply as smoothly as the first one and this frustrates me. I have to make sure I get my line right on the very first swipe; oh yes it’s that drying. Now I suppose it will dry out in the jar pretty fast, most likely within four months but I am not sure about that yet. On the bright side, once dried, it doesn’t budge or smear through out the day. Since its also waterproof I assumed that it wouldn't come off easily upon removal but it proved me wrong. Surprisingly, it comes off rather easily with a good makeup remover/facial cleanser.

Overall, I have mixed feelings about this one. I love how intense and long-lasting it is but I hate that it sets on the lid a bit too quick for my liking.

You might like it if…
  • You expect good intensity
  • You like how creamy and smoothly it applies on the first stroke without tugging/pulling
  • You expect it to be water-proof
  • You expect a good wear time
  • You expect it to come off easily with makeup remover/cleanser
You might not like it if…
  • You think it dries and sets pretty quick on your lids not allowing for a smooth second coat
  • You fear it will dry out in the jar quickly
My rating:
3.5/5

  6. It's really hard to find one that has all the benefits and none of the hassles. I think I prefer the ones that don't dry fast but that smudge a bit than the ones that set too quickly because there's no way I can get the line right on the first swipe. I can always take extra precautions to make it last longer and/or make the liner thinner so it's even less likely to transfer when I blink.
Thanks for the review Sara, it really is a nice colour, I'm sure it looks lovely on your eyes, black can be a bit boring sometimes, no? xx
