Color Studio Professional Matt Foundation HD Stick – Review & swatches

I love that Color Studio Professional keeps expanding and bringing out new products for such reasonable prices. The brand has some really nice products and has conquered the hearts of many in Pakistan.

Matt Foundation HD Stick
Extremely easy to apply, characterized by a dry touch and a matt finish. Its high coverage assures a perfect minimization of the skin imperfections and its soft formulation takes care of the skin assuring a decongestant and anti - oxidant action. Particular active principles like chestnut extract and vitamin E works together to protect the skin.

For your ease of selection, I would like to describe the shades individually. Stick Foundation comes in the shades listed below:

101 Ivory
The lightest shade of the range. Perfect for anyone with very light, fair skin with yellow undertone.

102 Beige
Perfect for fair medium complexion. Has peach undertone.

103 Asia
For medium skin tone with yellow undertone.

104 Oriental
For deep medium skin tone. Has yellow undertone.

105 Arabia
For pale fair skin with pink undertone.

My thoughts
Stick foundation is usually not my choice for daily use; I like to use liquid instead. The application can be tricky; you can either achieve a natural, fresh face or go overboard and appear cakey. CSP HD Stick Foundation instantly melts into skin providing a medium coverage (able to camouflage small imperfections) and gives a lustrous natural finish – yes, it’s not all matte! The creamy, thick texture makes application a cinch however that grip is lacking one that Kryolan TV Paint Stick has to offer. It really isn’t transfer proof and you may notice it sliding off your face after around five hours if you happen to have combination/oily skin type.

As mentioned earlier, application is the key. Start by applying a thin layer to one side of the face, blend with your fingers and apply to the other side. Do not, I repeat, do NOT cover all your face with foundation. Leave some space for blending; you can avoid a cakey face this way.  To make your makeup last longer, apply a good primer underneath and top it off with a setting powder. I also noticed that it sort of settles into the fine lines of my face and emphasizes any dryness; I guess the dryness is because of the weather change. I always like to spritz some rosewater over my foundation to avoid patchiness. Now to the major concern on your part – what skin type does it suit best? In my humble opinion, it can be used by any skin type. I highly suggest setting it with a mattifying powder for oily skins. For dry/normal skin, I suggest hydrating your face prior to application if you see any dry spots. I have been using it for quite some time and I haven't had any breakouts with it.

Even though the stick foundation comes in just five shades, I am glad this range has shades for darker, deeper skin tones. 102 Beige is a pretty close match for me however the undertone leans more peach instead of yellow which isn't my first choice when it comes to a foundation. Compared to Luscious Foundation Stick, it works better for dry/normal skins however the former is better in terms of longevity and fares well on my combination skin in summer.

Overall, Color Studio Professional Matt Foundation HD Stick is close to perfect  for an everyday natural, healthy look. This foundation certainly deserves praise based on the price. You might want to pass on it if you expect a long wear and transfer-proof coverage - go for Pro Luminous Foundation instead.

You might like it if…
  • You dig creamy texture which is easy to apply and blend
  • You expect a semi-matte finish
  • You expect medium coverage
  • You have dry/normal/combination skin type
  • You expect it to glide on effortlessly on your skin
  • You think the shade range suits Pakistani skin tones
  • You find it affordable
You might not like it if…
  • It slides off your face after five hours. It’s not transfer resistant
  • It emphasizes any dryness on your face in winter
  • You expect a matte finish
  • You cannot find yourself a match
  • You have oily skin type
My rating
3.5/5
