Illamasqua Complement Palette – Review & swatches

I believe Illamasqua has done a fantastic job putting up this palette.

Complement Palette
Play the soft, metallic reflections of Powder Eye Shadow in Slink (soft champagne shimmer) and Liquid Metal in Focus (cool brown metallic), against the mysterious depths of Powder Eye Shadows in Forgiveness (rich chocolate plum) and Queen of the Night (blackened plum).

I used this palette in my look here.

My thoughts
The shades in this palette complement well together and they would look flattering on just about any skin tone. Despite the fact that it has only four shades, you can do anything from a neutral look to a sultry purple eye. Like always, I am very pleased with the pigmentation; the texture of the shadows is silky smooth, let alone the impeccable blending. I had no issues with fallout either. They build up nicely and look even more intense with a primer underneath.

The texture is different for each shade. Slink is a soft champagne shimmer that makes a pretty highlighter. It has subtle sheen to it that doesn’t appear frosted. Focus is a cream based cool brown with a soft metallic finish. I’m not very excited about this one as it creases if worn alone however it could be used as a base. Forgiveness is a striking chocolate plum. It’s matte and it’s one of my most favorites among them. It’s super wearable and gives a nice depth to the eye when applied on top of the crease. Queen of the Night is a gorgeous deep plum with barely there shimmer. This one indeed is a showstopper!

Overall, I think Complement Palette is a great addition by Illamasqua. If you’re looking for a compact, travel friendly palette that offers shadows for both day-to-night look, this is worth checking out.
