My thoughts
I have never been a fan of Rimmel foundations but this one is a pleasant surprise however I’m unable to use it so often as the shade is a bit dark for me; might be the undertone mismatch (not so detectable in the photos though). Classic Beige has more of the pink undertones than yellow so it seems somewhat dull on my complexion. Like other Rimmel Foundations, I think this range too lack shades for very fair, yellow toned or women of color which may well keep you from trying it out.

Back to the foundation. Texture wise, it reminds me of Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation which was my go-to winter foundation last year. I think Lasting Finish is tad more moisturizing than Healthy Mix therefore it doesn’t highlight any dry spots on my face however I would suggest using a moisturizer if your skin is dry/normal. Unlike Healthy Mix, it takes over a minute to completely adjust to the skin. Secondly, it’s not as light-weight in comparison to Healthy Mix but it’s not heavy either. You can apply and blend it with your fingers without any trouble or use a brush instead.

When initially applied, it gives a dewy base without being greasy which after a while sets to a semi-matte finish. The consistency isn’t runny or thick so it spreads out evenly and blends into the skin quite well without the mask-like effect. It provides a medium coverage which is buildable but I wouldn't suggest layering on too much as it could turn cakey. I love how it leaves my skin looking youthful and slighly glowing when put over thoroughly moisturized skin. It also conceals minor spots/blemishes really well. I’d like to mention here that it’s a water-based foundation with silicones which is why I noticed that it also makes my pores less visible. It doesn't break me out either.

As mentioned before, on me it doesn’t highlight any dryness neither does it settle in fine lines/creases. I use a translucent powder to set it up and it does holds up well throughout my working day without transferring or oxidizing which is amazing! With a primer underneath, I have no doubt it would last well up to good ten hours. I got this is in a tube form but previously I think it came in a bottle with a pump. The later would've been much comfortable to use I think. Clearly, I prefer this over Rimmel Match Perfection but the strong floral scent is one thing they share in common.

Overall, this one is a winner by Rimmel. In my opinion, this foundation is suitable for all skin types (not for combination/oily skin in summer) however it wouldn't be my pick for summer when I'm more into matte finish. If you're looking for a good on-the-budget foundation that offers medium coverage for daily wear, I'd surely suggest checking it out. I really wish Rimmel brings out some shades with yellow undertones.

You might like it if...
  • You expect medium to buildable coverage
  • You have normal to combination skin type
  • You expect easy blending
  • You expect a semi-matte finish
  • You're looking for aqua-based foundation
  • You expect it to be transfer-resistant
  • You expect a light-weight/non-greasy coverage
  • You find it affordable
You might not like it if...
  • The strong floral scent bothers you
  • You're unable to find yourself a match
  • If you think it cakes up upon building
  • You've a dry skin type & you prefer a dewy finish
  • You have an oily skin & you use it in humid weather

  9. I love this foundation, but like you said, there aren't enough shades to match really fair skin tones which is a shame because it really is an amazing product. What I do is mix it with another lighter foundation to make it work ^^

  13. Hi, Sara!
I have spent so much money buying the wrong shade of foundation. It ususally looks fine in the store, then looks all wrong when I go home and have worn it for a few hours. I think also that a lot of brands have a pink undertone. With your experience, which brands have a yellow undertone suited for Asians?
Keep up your great work, I love your blog!

    1. Hey there, thanks a bunch for your lovely words. :)

Well, for a drugstore brand, I think you should look into Bourjois, L'Oreal and No 7. In the high-end category, you can find many options in MAC, Make Up For Ever, Merle Norman and Chanel. I hope this helps. :)
